Bard-Pic Syndrome Description
Complication of advanced cancer of the pancreas.
Bard-Pic Syndrome Cause
The enlarging pancreas puts pressure on the bile duct which runs nearby, preventing bile from leaving the liver and entering the small bowel.
Bard-Pic Syndrome Symptom
Progressive jaundice (yellow skin), loss of appetite and weight loss.
Investigation
Blood tests show increasing levels of bilirubin, and CT or ultrasound scans show cancer of pancreas.
Bard-Pic Syndrome Treatment
Surgery to relieve pressure on bile duct.
Prognosis of Bard-Pic Syndrome
Almost invariably fatal.
