Naevus - Symptom, Treatment and cause of Naevus

Naevus Description

Small area of abnormal, but benign, skin pigmentation. May be
single or multiple. Many different forms including blue naevus (benign blue
coloured and smooth), Becker naevus (hairy, male, shoulders), sebaceous
(yellow, bumpy, on scalp), epidermal (very common, may be extensive), halo,
portwine, strawberry and spider

Naevus Cause

Developmental defect.

Naevus Symptom

Rough raised area of skin of almost any colour, but often brown.

Investigation

If there is any suspicion that the spot may be malignant, it should
be biopsied or cut out.

Naevus Treatment

None necessary. Cosmetic surgery may be performed if desired.

Prognosis of Naevus

Usually remain life long.
