Home Remedies For Sore Throat
- An old home remedy for sore throats. Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper, juice of 1/4 a lemon, and 1 teaspoon of honey to a cup. Add 1 cup of hot water and stir. Drink up to 4 cups a day.
- Mango bark is efficacious in the treatment of a sore throat and other throat disorders. Its fluid, which is extracted by grinding, can be applied locally with beneficial results. It can also be used as a throat gargle. This gargle is prepared by mixing 10 ml of the fluid extract with 125 ml of water.
- Gargle with kheel of alum 2 gms mixed in half a glass of warm water. (Grind alum and heat in an iron vessel. When the part touching the pan becomes a watery, minimize the heat and with a knife turn the alum over to heat the other side. When this part too becomes watery, turn the flame off and grind the residue in to powder.) This cures swelling and throat pain.
- You could also gargle with disprin and warm water.
- Boil 10 gms Sprague (Latin name, trachyspermum ammi) in 500 gms of water for 15 minutes. Let it cool, then add two pinches of salt and gargle twice a day. This clears excessive mucous.
- Grind and mix dry fruit of emblica and liquorices in equal amounts. Take one teaspoonful twice a day, in the morning and evening for two weeks. In this mixture if equivalent amount of sugar candy is added and six grams of mixture is taken with 250 grams of milk, it cures sore throat.
- For throat pain, mix dry coriander and sugar in equal amounts and chew one teaspoonful of it twice or thrice a day.
- Pineapple juice is useful for sore throat, but in small amounts at frequent intervals.
