Spinal neoplasms is also known as spinal cord tumors, spinal tumors, intradural neoplasms, glial cell tumors. Spinal neoplasms are abnormal growths of tissue found inside the spinal column.It can develop in people of any age.It occurs with equal frequency in both men and women.

What are the treatments for Spinal Neoplasms?

  • Steroids may be used as it reduces the inflammatory reaction around it and decrease the volume of the mass impinging on the spinal cord.
  • Chemotherapy-It uses tumor killing drugs which are given orally or injected into bloodstream. Chemotherapy drugs normally kills the growing cells.
  • Radiotherapy-This therapy helps to shrink tumors.The frequency and dose should be carefully calculated
  • Surgery-Surgery may be required for aggressive tumors.
