What is Pancreatic Cancer?
Pancreatic cancer is related to malignant tumour and it occurs when the generation of cancerous cells take place in the pancreas tissue. It also known as exocrine cancer.
Pancreatic cancer spreads very fast. Pancreas is a gland which appears behind the stomach and is about 6 inches long. Pancreas plays an important role in producing juices which helps to digest food and hormones like insulin and glucagon which are helps to control sugar level. It is difficult to diagnose at the begining stage.
Causes of Pancreatic Cancer
- Smoking is the most common cause of the pancreatic cancer.
- Having large numbers of unusual moles may also lead to pancreatic cancer
- Pancreatic cancer also cause due to faulty breast cancer genes.
- Dietary factors, chronic pancreatitis, genetic factors are also responsible for cancer.
Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer
- Jaundice is the main symptom of the pancreatic cancer in which skin becomes yellow and eyes becomes white and urine may become darker.
- Unintended weight loss, upper abdominal pain, back pain
- Depression is the more common in this type of patients.
- Often pain is the first sign of the pancreatic cancer.
What are the treatments for Pancreatic Cancer?
- There are different types of treatment available :
- Surgery : In which part of pancreas are remove.
- Chemotherapy : This uses different types of drugs to destroy cancer cells.
- Radiation therapy : This method uses high powered rays to vanish cancer cells & stop their growth.
- Immunotherapy
- Vaccine therapy : Vaccine is available for cancer.
It also can be treated if it identify in its earliest stages, before spreading.
- We can also use biopsy operation method to detect cancer in which the test of tiny tissue sample from tumour is take place.
