Ovarian Cysts
Most growths of the ovaries are not malignant, but the malignant types are among the most dangerous to women. Ovarian growths often cause no symptoms other than vague abdominal discomfort or a feeling of pressure or mild pain in the pelvis. In an advanced state a mass is felt in the abdomen. Fluid may collect in the abdomen.
Tests for Ovarian Cysts
Early diagnosis and therefore a clinical examination at the time of the regular Pap smear is very important.
Lab tests and imaging techniques - like ultrasound – help diagnosis.
Treatment of Ovarian Cysts/cancer
Treatment involves removal of the ovaries, tubes and uterus, as well as lymph nodes or other tissues in which there is evidence of spread. That is followed by chemotherapy.
